Bioenergetic Breathing

Bioenergetics is the field of science which involves physical exercise, breathing techniques and verbal psychotherapy for curing the problems of the patients.Breathing is an effective tool for the stimulation of personal growth.

It needs a high state of awareness and sensation together. Some techniques use the breath in a calm and peaceful place and gives relax to both mind and body. And the other one is strong breathing (bioenergetic breathing) which helps in stimulating emotional breath. It gives emotional, mental and physical release to one’s body.

Bioenergetic breathing is a specific breathing therapy known as round breathing.

  • Originally, breathing technique comes from Alexander Lowen’s interpretations of Reich and Jung.
  • Bioenergetic breathing is just like simple breathing but it is fast and deep breathing. It emphasizes on the process of inhalation but it must be forceful.
  • There should not be any pause while breathing.
  • The mouth and throat must be open wide.
  • Most of the people effort to breathe from mouth, nose and throat, this is a wrong technique.
  • But the fact is that our body breathes and upper respiratory tract is an obstacle.

Shallow Breathing Vs Bioenergetic Breathing

Shallow breathing is the common in society. As it is quite comfortable, but bioenergetic breathing is a bit tough and everyone make mistakes while breathing.

Some common problems that arise when one breathes in improper way and they are:-

  • Chain yawning
  • Squirming
  • Blowing
  • Hissing
  • Wheezing
  • Dry throat
  • Aches
  • Pains

Bioenergetic breathing also causes some potentially alarming side effects.

  • Parasthesia – It means “altered sensation”. In this tingling, get started around the mouth, at the fingertips and in the toes.
  • Tetanus – It is known as advanced stage of parasthesia. The hands and feet tend to “scratch up” and lips also gets dry.
  • Tremors – It can sweep the body in irregular way. It is a process of some changes in the blood chemistry. It is stiff but not painful. One good thing is that tremors are not long lasting.

All these side effects are temporarily produced in the body. It is not harmful in any way. One thing that is expected from anyone is that one must be emotionally strong enough to complete the treatment.
